India Association of Los Angeles

We're the families, volunteers, and neighbors who have kept Indian culture close to home in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley for more than 25 years. Every August we throw the India Day Mela, every January we mark Republic Day, and all year long we make room for anyone who wants to celebrate with us.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving our community since 1999.

Who We Are

To introduce, promote and enhance awareness of the heritage, culture and traditions of India by organizing various cultural and social events.

We started in 1999 with a handful of families who wanted their kids to grow up knowing the festivals, food, and traditions they grew up with. Twenty-five years later, our India Day Mela has welcomed more than 10,000 people over the years, and a volunteer leadership of 34 neighbors keeps it all going.

Cultural Celebrations

From Republic Day to our India Day Mela, we bring families together around the festivals and traditions of India.

Community & Civic Engagement

We connect residents with civic leaders, public programs, and a welcoming network across Southern California.

Youth & Family Programs

Programs that help the next generation stay connected to their heritage, language, and community.

Performing Arts Showcase

Stages for classical and folk dance, music, and theatre that spotlight our community's talent.

Cultural Celebrations

Heritage that lives on, generation to generation

From the pride of Republic Day to the color and joy of our Independence Day Mela, our celebrations are where children learn the dances their grandparents danced, where families share food and stories, and where a faraway homeland feels close to home.

Every performance, every booth, and every gathering helps preserve the traditions of India for the next generation of Angelenos.
